Subject: April 2014 Compliance Review Report Results and Follow-up

Dear Mr. Wilson,

Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada (AANDC) conducted a compliance review during fiscal 2013 2014 Please find attached a copy of the compliance review. The review will be published on the Department's Web site over the coming months, with this letter. Please submit a written response detailing the steps that your organization has taken or will take to implement the following recommendations within 30 days of receipt of this letter:

1. The recipient must take the necessary steps to correct the programming error (negative costs of transportation).
2. The recipient must take the necessary steps to update the purchasing system to flag transportation costs net to date. In addition, the recipient must ensure that the procurement system contains, at any time, the latest data on net cost of transport.
3. The recipient must verify the weight entered in the purchasing system to make sure it matches the weight shown on the supplier's invoice.
4. The recipient must ensure that the supplier gives the invoice airline with its invoice prior to payment or discuss with management AANDC to arrange a convenient way to submit the bill for air transport, and in accordance with program requirements.
